MEMBER OF Parliament for Assin Central is pleading on Ghanaians to have mercy on Power Minister, Dr. Kwabena Donkor over his recent gaffe on the energy crisis in the country popularly known as ‘dum-sor’.
The Minister incurred the wrath of the citizenry after he stated emphatically in an interview with Kumasi-based Ash FM that he does not know when the power crisis will end.
“If President Mahama says dum-sor will be over very soon, why don’t you ask him, am I his spokesman,” an angry Dr. Kwabena Donkor ranted on ASH FM on Tuesday.
The Power Minister also said he does not know about threats issued by neighbouring Nigeria to cut supply of gas to Ghana over unpaid debts.
His comment follows an assurance by President Mahama that he [Donkor] will announced an end to the load shedding exercise.
The gaffe by the Power Minister many believe is an affront to the President hence must be sacked to serve as a deterrent to others.
But Kennedy Agyapong on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Thursday pleaded on the behiour of his colleague MP.
According to him, Dr. Kwabena Donkor is “frustrated” because the deadline he gave to end dum-sor is near and there is no end in sight.
“He is my friend and I know how he talks; I think he is frustrated so Ghanaians should forgive him” he added.
The Assin Central MP blamed the Power Minister for joining the government propaganda to deceive Ghanaians on the true energy situation in the country.
Kennedy Agyapong urged Ghanaians to brace up for difficult times ahead since dumsor will be intensified.
