GFA have wasted $16m in 15 months -Agyeman

FOOTBALL ANALYST, Nana Kwaku Agyemang is furious at the continued stay in office of the Kwesi Nyantakyi led administration of Ghana football even as he acknowledges that they have been voted into a mandate of four years.

Nana Agyemang says the woes of Ghana football since 2006 when the nation finally made a debut at football’s World Cup has been the authorities in charge.

He insists that their failure at five Cup of Africa Nations tournaments spanning the period of their stay in charge of the sport has yielded nothing but a continued waste of the country’s financial resources which could have been invested in youth development.

“In the years: 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012, & 2013. Coaches: Dujkovic, Le-Roy, Milovan Rajevac, Stevanovic, & Appiah. Only God knows how many Captains! Approximately $35,000,000 minimum total expenditure without winning the Africa Cup of Nations,” Nana Agyemang wrote on his Facebook page.

He continued: “How on earth and on what basis can it be justified that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) should remain under the same moribund leadership? Without prejudice and solely from an objective point of view, isn’t it time for a change? Just asking.”

He further told 90 MINUTES when we called him: “We’ve spent 16 million dollars in the past two years and we got nothing. We could have put that into colts’ football and today we would have so many players ready to play for even the Black Stars, so many.

“Go back and check the history of the GFA and you will see that every Chairman who failed to win the Africa Cup of Nations was sacked but Nyantakyi has been around for more than six years and he has overseen 5 failed tournaments and he is still in office.”
