Ada Celebrates Ex-President Mills

THE CHIEFS and people of the Ada traditional area have used this year’s Asafotu Fiami festival to mourn Ghana’s fallen President, the late Prof. John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills. Black and red paraphernalia were worn by all the chiefs and celebrants throughout the festive period to bemoan and pay last respects to the late President.
Instead of the traditional riding in a palanquin to the durbar grounds, the paramount chief together with all the divisional chiefs walked to the grounds to show respect to the late “humble” President who was before his untimely death, invited by the Ada traditional council as the special guest of honour for this year’s Asafotu Fiami festival which also marks the 75th anniversary in the history of the festival.
The paramount chief of the Ada traditional area and the president of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs, Nene Abraham Kabu Akuaku III in a solemn message, asked politicians and all Ghanaians to use the death of the former President to foster peace and tolerance among themselves especially in the upcoming December 7 general elections.
Nene Ada also sent a message of condolence to Dr. Ernestina Naadu Mills, the family and Ghana’s newly sworn in President, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama and urged him to use his office to continue and promote the peace and stability that the late President Mills was noted for.
He said the people of Ada have strong belief in the late Presidents’ government regarding to the numerous developmental projects Ada district have enjoyed under his leadership, especially, the Sea Defence Project which has just commenced.
Nene Ada added that the people of Ada also know his Excellency John Dramani Mahama as a man of peace, integrity, humility and above all God fearing and has urged him to continue the good works of the late Professor Mills especially regarding the maintenance of peace and stability before, during and after the upcoming general elections. He further used the occasion to ask for God’s blessing and guidance for the President Mahama throughout his tenure of office.
