Ghana is aiming for the World Cup finals – Nyantakyi

Ghana FA President
President of the Ghana Football Association has tipped the Black Stars to make it to the finals of the 2014 World Cup.

Ghana is making its third straight appearance at the Mundial and expectations from a majority of football fans in the country is that the Black Stars would improve on its quarter final place in South Africa in 2010.

Mr.Nyantakyi the FA president, explained that if the team could make it out of the group that also has United States of America, Portugal and Germany, going to the final would not be that complicated.

” I believe we have all heard that our group has been called one of ‘Death’. However, I can assure you if we can wriggle ourselves out of the grip of death, everybody should expect to see us in the final,” he said at the launch of the media coverage of the 2014 World Cup in Accra on Wednesday.

He continued: “Our first appearance at the World Cup in 2006 got us a second round stage and our run in South Africa ended at the quarter finals. This time, we are hopeful of going further.”

Mr. Nyantakyi revealed that the Black Stars would begin camping in Rotterdam on the 25th of May, 2014 and play matches against Montenegro, Netherlands, Costa Rica and Honduras before arriving in Brazil on the 10th of June, 2014.

Ghana will play its first game of the World Cup on the 14th of June against the United States of America in Natal.
